our conversation about M.A.D. yesterday inspired me to actually read some proper papers about war games and european preparedness vis nato vs russia, china and USA . so, thank you for the inspiration to improve my knowledge over “feelings and bekiefs”. Again.
But incidentally referring to this story I deliberately didn't make them Christians because again I'm trying to avoid blaming this that or the other group. The tale is set in the Kollapse world of post-apocalyptic misery and really is about using the suffering of others as a way of solving one's own problems - scapegoating, you might say.

I don't know what the first thing you mention refers to, but the wildfires are definitely a factor in this. You can't see columns of smoke and smell the burning in the air for days and days and not be affected somehow.
But it's also judgement - we are so happy to pass judgement and condemn, it seems sometimes that's ALL we ever do, search for the blameworthy, the one to single out and punish.
Yet how will we be judged, collectively? As the wise and humane generation, the prudent and foresightful ones? Karma is a bitch.
However it may be, this one came out quick and spontaneous, an hour from concept to finish, no revisions one draft only.
I’m liking your approach to the Kollapse world - fragments here and there I mean. If you were to publish it as a collection you wouldn’t need to re-add the overt references, because inclusion in the collection would be enough. I like that idea - makes it more ambiguous and means the reader has to do some work, which is fun.
