I read this in ED-209's voice and was highly entertained. Absolutely loved this! I even prefer your story over the AI version! 😄 Although I agree it has its moments of brilliance, too.

Giving AI a taste of its own medicine! Love it! That'll teach it. I think wrapping it up in its own paradox is the best way to defang it, hurt its feelings. Great stuff, Murph.

Thanks a lot Bradley but personally I have my doubts that satire will really be able to do that much. Increasingly, though I practise satire, I have serious doubts that it has any beneficial effect at all. Maybe it just serves to make writer and reader feel all warm and superior, above the fray. After all, they made Idiocracy, and look at where we are today.

You're totally right. Satire comes from despair. We are doomed. DOOMed, I tell you!

Anyone spotted the absurd bit in the AI's version of the story yet?

HINT: "issued the termination... a few days later..."

The implications of that alone are troubling enough, considering that AIs are already working autonomously with lethal technology. It kinda makes the AI's version of an ethical AI teaching humans about the morally correct and compassionate thing to do more than a teensy-weensy bit suspect.

such an amazing piece. i love the jagged charm of your AI and recoil from the polished charmlessness of ChatGPTs efforts. I really like the story. I felt like I was looking into the pried open box of a machine trying to think.
